Questions: 19-23

19. What do you do in your free time?
Relate this question with Chapter 11. Remember that you can’t change your story for a more convenient one, but you can always emphasize what you believe will result favorable for this postulation.

2. What is the salary you expect?
We repeat the ideas on Chapter 9 in its last part. We will try to help you “make” a number, according to your particular situation.
If you don’t have a job: say what your last salary was and comment that”you would like to keep the previous level, but you are open to offers”.
If you are a young person and you are searching for your first job: don’t play with the numbers, say that you will listen to the offer that your main interest is to begin working. If the offer doesn’t result appropriate later on, you always have the option of not accepting it. In the case of young people, it is very difficult that the employer will change the foreseen salary level just because someone asks for a determined value.
If you have a job and you have a strong vocation for change: comment what is your current salary, that you want to keep the current level and you will listen to offers because you are really interested in changing jobs.
If you have a job and you only want to change it because you want to improve your current salary: calculate how much you want to increase it and say a number with decision. If you are not convinced, you won’t convince others.

3. Are you willing to travel?
Prepare all your answers, but this and the following ones not only require you to prepare them, they also need you to think about them.
Your hiring, or not, may depend on this question, but if your answer is yes and you are not really willing to travel, you will have a problem in the very short term.
Before answering yes or not, ask what frequently means and how many days in each case. For some people, frequently may mean once a week, month, or other, traveling three days a week and for others being out of the country for 70% of the time.
If you have to be frequently away for long periods, find out if your family can go with you or how many tickets you will have available for your family, etc.
If you didn’t know this situation in advance and it compromises your family life, ask for a couple of days to answer and talk about it with your family.

4. Could you move to another city or country?
The last paragraph of the previous answer also applies. If they talk about this with you in the first interview, ask for a couple of days to talk it over with your family.
If it was already stated in the advertisement you responded, or if they told you about it over the phone, think about the answer before the interview.
Don’t participate in searches that imply moving, if you know in advance that this will cause you family problems.
If the question is just potential and they don’t mean in this moment, answer what seems more appropriate to you.
Globalization is a lot more than a concept, it has been installed everywhere and a notable consequence of it is the internationalization of handwork. Therefore, this question will be posed at some moment and if the company is international and you are not willing to move someday, you may be out of the search. Answer what you feel, but we keep in mind that this can happen.

5. If we hire you, when could you begin?
If you are not working offer yourself to start right away. If, by the contrary, you should untie yourself from your current job, be careful. Finish you current work relation in good terms.
Remember legal terms and, even when you may not be willing to fulfill them, you should respect the uses and customs.
A minimum term, if your current employer allows it, is 15 days. The legal terms go between 30 and 60 days, but the employer generally doesn’t demand their fulfillment.
