11. How do you face the tasks you dislike? A possible answer would be: “With enthusiasm, this is a way of coping with them”; or another: “I try not to get in a bad mood and solve them quickly, so I can do the ones I really enjoy”; or any other you may think of. Don’t forget that all jobs have “something” we dislike.
12. If you could be someone else, who would, you like to be? It is very difficult to answer this… A well known song tells us about the different possible life and chooses the pirate’s one… Everything is possible; personally, I wouldn’t be interested in being the pirate. Leaving fantasies aside, you have lots of possibilities to use as an answer, one of them could be: “In general, I like what I am and the things I have done so far…”
13. What career or business you would choose if you had to start again? I imagine –without knowing you- that, if you are participating in a determined search, it is because you are interested in the subject, therefore, I suggest you to say something related with the position.
14. How do you react to criticism, justified or not? Many times we think the criticisms are unjustified –and sometimes they are-. Many people react in a bad way to the criticism either if they are justified or not. Those who don’t accept the critics –in general- don’t recognize them neither to others nor to themselves. So this question can be very difficult to answer. Once again, we suggest you to be sincere.
15. Do you have problems traveling? Think before answering. Does the position you are applying for require traveling? If not, the question can be related to your future career. Be sincere. On the other hand, consider that the employers prefer people who have no problems at all.
16. Are you afraid of traveling by plain? If you have phobia to fly, don’t apply for a job that requires frequent trips by plane. It is true that phobias can be corrected, but the process can be painful for you, if you have to travel a lot for obligation. Don’t apply if this is your case. Apply for jobs you like. If you were not aware of this characteristic of the position, this is the time to ask and clarify this point. The interview will be thanked. Both of you will waste less time and you –anyway- can be an interesting candidate for other type of jobs.
17. Would you be willing to take a lie detector test? I don’t know anyone who really uses them, this questions aims to see if you are a clear person or not. Therefore, don’t tell the interviewer that is just for the television; they have been used is some parts of the world. A possible answer to a question like this can be: “I think this is strange procedure, but I have nothing to hide.”
18. Mention some books you have read in the last months. Mention business or management best sellers, if possible, mention three actuality publications. Don’t mention books that you know only by the name, because they can ask you something about them and you can give a bad impression.
19. What do you think about competition? Competence is good – as are many other things - in the right measure. Therefore, being competitive is good. The world we move in is competitive. An adequate answer to this question would be: “I agree with competition, always inside the ethical limits.”
20. What is your idea of success? Success is a word that can have different meanings, depending on who we are asking. It is right to say that I may mean something for you and something else for me.An answer could be: “Success is to reach…”, and indicate the highest position you aim to.
