72 questions on you personality Keep in mind that you won’t change the reality just by reading these questions and answers. Many human characteristics can be modified only with training and, in some cases, with support therapies. This chapter is included for you to learn better how you will be evaluated according to your personality. Also remember that it isn’t possible to “cheat” on a good interviewer. With all of these explanations, I suggest you to read the following. It will be useful for you.
In order to feel comfortable in the interviews, focus on the real aspects of your history, previous works, achievements, situations you have improved, etc. Focus on the things you have done and talk about it in your words. Yours, not mine. Relate –whenever possible- those past facts with the position to fill. You will be surprised with how easy it will be to do it and the good results you will get.
1. It is said that intelligent people are less happy. What do you think? The possibilities are as many as the consulted people. You could get rid of the problem saying: “It depends on each case, I think that an intelligent person can be as happy as another less intelligent one.”
2. Do you consider yourself an intelligent person? You could answer: “Yes. I think I am aware of my strengths and weaknesses and I know how to manage myself adequately.” Consider that they won’t “measure” your intelligence through this question. If your interlocutor really wants to know what your level of intelligence is, they will manage things in a way that at some point of the process, and through a psychological evaluation and the application of a specific test, it will be evaluated.
3. Are you a crafty person? Are you interested in analytic jobs? These questions will be related with a task and you should answer sincerely. For your own sake, the position to fill should be related with your preferences.
4. How do you get along with the routine? You can be applying for a highly creative job or for a job with certain routine content. If you were participating in this last type of search, a good answer could be: “Truth is I don’t. I don’t get bored because my responsibility is to make a work the best I can. If your postulation were on a managing level: “All the positions have a quota of routine, I get alone with it even when I prefer to show my managing abilities.”
5. Do prefer working alone or in teams? All management books talk about the advantages of teamwork and that is the current tendency. I suggest you not to lie or say what you don’t feel. If you think you are a good team worker, then say it.
6. Do you like working with other people? This question is related with the previous one. Do you really like working with other people and in teams? I don’t know. If it were pertinent, a possible answer would be: “Without a doubt. There is nothing better than working with a group of people.”
7. What are the reasons of your success? Do you know them? This is the moment to talk about them without letting your ego go too far. You can’t say that it is because you are the best and the cutest one. Commitment and the hard work are usually the most common reasons of the success. You find out what is your main cause. A possible idea would be: “I work hard and I like what I do.”
8. What does hard work mean for you? Remember that this question can derive from the previous one.
9. Do you have many absences, justified or not? If your attendance is good, then you have no problems. If your absences have an explanation, as an accident or an illness, explain the reasons and clarify the fact. Don’t lie about it; don’t forget that this circumstances are easy to be proven in a references request.
10. Do you get bored of your job? Do you get bored of details? If you are the kind of people who hates details, say it. But, before answering, think of what kind of relation this question may have with the position to fill.
